How to make this Toilet Roll Rocket DIY

We love creating with recycled materials, from bottles to cardboard. We have seen this rocket craft online and cannot wait to try it out.

Adults should supervise all art & craft play activities at all times. Some materials used in these activities are small and can pose a choking hazard to toddlers. Please ensure your child’s safety by closely monitoring their play.

We love creating with recycled materials, from bottles to cardboard. One of the most popular materials in our household is toilet paper rolls. These are always readily available as we go through at least 3-4 rolls in our household weekly. Their cylinder shape is versatile for making all kinds of crafts. We have seen this rocket craft online and cannot wait to try it out.

What will you need?

– Toilet paper rolls: I store them away in a plastic box when I finish using the paper roll

-Some colored cardstocks – this pack includes 100 sheets in many colors.

For Safety, I recommend using these Fiskars scissors. They’re designed with blunt edges, making them safe for young kids. This way, you can feel reassured while your child enjoys the craft.

Acrylic paint in different colors – this set of 24 colors from Caliart has 12 brushes and is vibrant. They are perfect for painting on hard surfaces,

– Gluesticks or non-toxic-PVA glue

– Tissue paper (optional) or regular printing paper.

– Rocket DIY Template – you can download it for FREE here.

So let’s get making!

1. Paint the toilet roll with acrylic colors.

    2. Print out the template here and color them (with paint or marker)

    3. Cut out the template into shapes.

    4. Assemble the cone shape first, and use PVA glue to attach the cone & toilet roll.

    5. Cut out the small circles and stick them to the front of the toilet roll

    6. Cut the tissue into a small rectangle (the length of the rectangle should be the same or longer than the toilet roll’s outer length). Then, cut the rectangle into more petite, straight strips.

    7. Stick the strips on the bottom of the toilet rolls. And your rockets are completed.
